Let’s take a look at the brand new Dinner Lady Vape Pen Pro disposables.
Dinner Lady sprang onto the vape scene back in 2016 serving up a healthy portion of Lemon Tart, an E-liquid flavour bursting with authenticity and one that would go on to win countless industry awards.
I remember trying it for the first time and thinking ‘these folks have nailed bakery vapes on the head’.
Based in the UK, Dinner Lady have since won over 55 awards including industry leader, best global brand and Hall of Fame winners.
These days it seems they’re unstoppable with anything from 10ml, short fill, and concentrates to choose from in various juice ratios. Across flavours that span a multitude of categories including drinks, sweets, fruits and menthol.
Their nic salt range has been particularly popular in simple starter pens and pod kits. It gives vapers a cheaper way of reproducing the flavours from a disposable.
But that’s clearly not enough for the Blackburn based crew. Not long back they released their own disposable vape pen containing the most popular selling flavours.
Including none other than – you guessed it – Lemon Tart.
With such a vast array of flavours to pick from (over 140 if I’m correct) it was inevitable an upgrade was due at some point.
..and here it is. The Vape Pen Pro.
What Can We Expect From the Dinner Lady Vape Pen Pro?
We’re safe in the knowledge the Vape Pen Pro is fully TPD compliant.
It contains 2ml of 20mg salt nicotine and is available in 14 of their popular flavours. They range from drinks, fruit, mint, dessert, sweets and menthol.
There are currently no other options for nicotine strength. As well as picking them up individually they’re also available as a triple pack. You can even mix and match the three.
If you’re a true fan the entire range is available in a carton, complete with a colour booklet that runs through everything you can expect from the Vape Pen Pro.
It also represents the best value for money by far.
So the Vape Pen Pro is made of Stainless Steel and PETG Rubber paint with a Silk print overlay. It’s designed for maximum comfort while vaping but it also makes the disposable sleek and durable.
With a height of 100mm and a width of 15mm it’s both ergonomic and discreet.
There’s not a great deal of info about the coil other than it’s the typical MTL (mouth to lung) variety, powering in at 1.6ohm.
The Vape Pen Pro ups the ante on the original pens puff counter. Instead of 400 puffs we should now expect anything up to 600.
Everything is driven by a 500mAh integrated battery.

Banana Ice
DL Says:
A sweet combination of Banana and Vanilla Cream chilled to perfection.
I Say:
We’re getting the usual synthetic, foam sweet variety of Banana here. To be honest there’s not an excessive amount of sweetness, either. The flavour of the fruit hits well throughout exhale but it would’ve been nice had it been a natural, ripe taste.
During inhale the Menthol content kicks in and will leave a stinging sensation on the back of the throat. So it’s quite intense. It’s going to be one of those that leaves an impression long after completing the vape.
I found the cream something of a late developer. It took a good half an hour before I actually noticed its presence. It’s ok but by no means a driving force to the vape.
If you’re into your sweet versions of fruit you’re going to like Banana Ice. The fact that there’s a little less sweetener means I find it more tolerable than usual.
Blueberry Ice
DL Says:
Ripened and sweetened Blueberries, served with an added kick of ice.
I Say:
I’m not very keen on this take on Blueberry at all. I always find it repugnant.
It’s as far away from the real fruit that I could think imaginable with its sour and acrid back notes. But Dinner Lady are far from the only culprits. Many disposable vapes include the same artificial take on Blueberry.
There’s certainly plenty of flavour generated by the exhale and to be fair, the sweetness levels are very well balanced.
The Menthol will take a hold very early on and increase in intensity if you’re a chain vaper like myself.
Personally, Blueberry is a vape I won’t miss in a hurry.
Double Apple
DL Says:
A sweet and sour candy flavour profile. Crisp Apples on the inhale, with a tangy burst of fizzy Sherbet on the exhale.
I Say:
Well that’s a bit of a shock! I was expecting more flavour intensity from Double Apple.
Don’t get me wrong, the Apple content is gorgeously created having all the hall marks of a ripe, crispy green garden Apple. And it’s still moreish.
It’s got some of the sourness of the fruit but I think it’s lacking some of the acidity.
There’s definitely plenty of sweetness on offer and it does kiss the lips after the exhale. So that’s a nice added bonus.
As for candy like? Not so much in my opinion. I find it quite authentic and true to the fruit if I’m honest.
The Menthol content helps to freshen and invigorate the vape although it’ devoid of any fizzy sherbet.
Double Apple is still good enough as a vape for any season of the year.
Lychee Ice
DL Says:
A soda based blend with a tropical punch. An iced sparkling Lemonade elevated with the sweet taste of Lychee.
I Say:
Very nice. I think everyone has a different take on Lychee. It always reminds me of powdered Turkish Delight straight out of the tin.
I dig the aroma of this flavour blend too. More of the sweeter qualities of the vape are drawn up into the inhale but less noticeable on the way out.
There’s also a copious amount of Menthol too. In the case of Lychee Ice it actually helps to enhance the flavour. It certainly complements it well.
As far as soda is concerned that’s a little more tricky. I find it actually dries the sweetness and bite of the Lemonade more than anything, reducing the full impact.
It’s a great version of Lychee but far from the flavour intensity I was expecting from a disposable.
Peach Bubble
DL Says:
This Peach Bubble Gum flavour provides a vaping experience worth chewing on!
I Say:
This one works and works a treat! The Bubble Gum is spot on. I notice it as soon as I begin exhaling. It fills the flavour senses, putting me in mind of the ever chewy confectionary straight away.
It’s the same sensation of having chomped down on Bubble Gum for around ten minutes or so as it works into the taste buds.
It kind of over shadows the Peach though. Of course it’s still a part of the vape experience but tends to get buried beneath.
I think the level of sweetness is pitch perfect in Peach Bubble. It could so easily have ruined what Dinner Lady were intending so big thumbs up to that.
It’s also a bit unfortunate for loathers of Menthol. Yes. Its present again and that needs to be taken into account.
Strawberry Ice Cream
DL Says:
This profile screams of nostalgia! Fresh and sweet Strawberries, layered with a rich, Vanilla cream on ice.
I Say:
The aroma after breaking open the sealed bag tells me I’m in for something of a dessert inspired extravaganza.
That’s exactly what I get. The creamy Vanilla is at the centre of this vape. It hits the palate and never let’s go.
It’s the perfect topping for the Strawberry which is quite rich tasting and to a degree authentic. I’m reminded of Angels Delight as a dessert.
The Menthol isn’t too strong either. Keeping this in mind (and as the title suggests) some will liken this more to a Strawberry ice cream than an after dinner treat.
I’m working on first impressions and for me, the Menthol is more detached from what else is on offer.
.. But I very much like what’s on offer.
Tropic Mango Chill
DL Says:
A deliciously chilled tropical fusion. Sweet, sour and juicy Mangos fused with a fresh and cooling hit.
I Say:
A tropical blast of flavour!
Mangoes spill from the exhale every time and the Menthol content ensures that the experience is kept refreshing and lively.
As I’ve been finding with the rest of the range the sweetness isn’t too intense. It’s balanced very well ensuring the fruit doesn’t enter the realms of being sickly or over bearing.
The Mango certainly packs a hefty clout and its unmistakable flavour holds up extremely well throughout the exhale.
A version of the popular tropical fruit that’s bound to be a sure fire Summer hit among lovers of disposable vapes.
Spearmint Menthol
DL Says:
An incredible fusion of spearmint eucalyptus and menthol. Some might say its’s the perfect all day vape of menthol profiles.
I Say:
Not a bad take on Spearmint but maybe lacking just that extra bit of bite. There’s plenty enough of the Menthol and it’s not throat searing strong but there’s something of a dry quality to the actual mint itself.
But it’s still a cool, refreshing taste on the exhale and does come close to the taste of an extra strong mint.
Flavour properties hold up well enough throughout and I guess there’s enough to satisfy the ex Menthol smoker here.
There’s just something missing from Spearmint Menthol to really give it the oomph it needs for a classic mint vape.
Pink Lemonade
DL Says:
A sharp and fruity blend of red berries and strawberries combined in a tangy lemonade, served on ice.
I Say:
Oh this is a nice blend. It’s quite subtle in its approach.
As far as disposable vapes are concerned, Dinner Lady have done a great job. I’m not blinded by flavour intensity and both fruit and beverage qualities merge successfully.
There’s a pleasant cooling effect during the inhale which, if I’m picky does tend to outstay its welcome but thankfully the main ingredients of the vape take centre stage.
Expect the berry content to remain somewhat artificial but not chemical tasting. It’s akin to a chewy sweet version. Yet the Lemonade is buoyant, tasty and refreshing – just as it should be.
Pink Lemonade offers a very pleasing mixture of flavour and the fact that it’s not too strong means I’m returning to it again and again.
Watermelon Ice
DL Says:
A newer take on our famous watermelon profile! With sweet cantaloupe, fresh honey dew and crisp watermelon, this trio will have watermelon lovers across the globe hooked.
I Say:
I’m not one for really separating out the above three mentioned Watermelon variants but the combined effort does make for a refreshing change, quite literally.
This is one of those rare disposables where Menthol and fruit really do combine in perfect harmony. A bit like Jackson and McCartney!
The cooling effect hits early and arrives alongside a healthy smattering of sweetness.
They’re the catalyst for the flavour explosion that follows on the exhale.
As the description hints, this is a completely different take on your usual generic, artificial tasting Watermelon. Amen to that, I say!
It’s juicy, succulent and bursting with flavour, no doubt due to the careful blending of the three types on offer. As a direct consequence it’s very hard to put down and that sweet after taste is the icing on this particular vape cake.
I’m highly impressed as you’ll see from the score!
Razz Blue Lemonade
DL Says:
Burst of mixed sweet blueberries and ripened raspberries gives a whole new take on an already famous profile.
I Say:
Another vape where the sweetness levels are pitched perfectly.
The driving force behind this one is the Lemonade, which may come as no surprise. I do feel a little let down by the lack of Raspberry though. It doesn’t arrive in the way I was hoping.
It’s most certainly in the mix but carries more of the sweetness than the bite.
If I’m being really blunt there’s even less of the Blueberry. It hits the vape too late and the tongue gets lined by a rather artificial taste.
The Menthol content is on par and does its best to freshen the exhale but Razz Blue Lemonade doesn’t hit all the flavour notes I was expecting to find.
It’s ok. But I’ve tasted better versions of this vape classic.
Strawberry Watermelon
DL Says:
A medley of fresh sliced watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe, complimented by succulent strawberries and a thin layer of kiwis.
I Say:
The Menthol gets sucked up during inhale and gently caresses the back of the throat. It’s another example of how to correctly apply it to a disposable. Both in terms of intensity and how it works with the given flavour values.
I’m not quite sure how I feel about Strawberry and Watermelon as a partnership.
In this case, the sourness of the Watermelon seems to clash with the sweetness of the Strawberry. So neither of their true flavour attributes seem to shine much.
In fact I get something of an odd flavour that’s neither distinguishable or all that enjoyable, to be quite honest.
The sweetness value is indeed incorporated but the overall flavour experience doesn’t quite hit the mark for me.
You could say that the fruits are cancelling each other out with Strawberry Watermelon.
Red Thunder
DL Says:
Our new energy drink flavour that’s just how you would imagine, but without the caffeine or the midday crash.
I Say:
You know what you’re getting with this one as soon as the vacuum sealed bag is torn open. The aroma is quite strong and quite familiar.
On this occasion there’s more sourness on the inhale. The sweeter properties of this well known energy drink lap up the exhale.
It’s a pleasantly smooth exhale too. These kinds of drinks profiles can sometimes catch the rear of the throat. I guess that’s the beauty of salt nicotine.
Expect the sweeter elements to dominate throughout. That’s not too surprising to learn given the subject matter but the great thing is it’s not too intense.
The candy like and bitter nature of energy drinks are both present which leads to habitual chain vaping in my case!
The perfect beverage vape for any time of the year. Just think! You’re not rotting your teeth, either..
Grape Star
DL Says:
A truly unique flavour! Chilled fruity red and black grapes, with a touch of aniseed.
I Say:
It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of Grape vapes. I don’t really vape Grapes. That’s enough of the poetry for now!
I’m afraid my opinion isn’t going to change with Grape Star. Yet, maybe if you’re a fan of the fruit you might like it.
The one thing I’ve never understood about this flavour is why it has to be amplified so much. Admittedly there’s not much flavour to be found in the real thing but in vape format, it’s always so artificial tasting.
This version has quite a few floral back notes and personally? I’m convinced of the inclusion of Orange.. The citrus like qualities appear towards the end of the exhale.
To be fair and subjective, Grape Star has been blended much better than most and isn’t as acrid or bitter tasting.
So I’ve got to score it on past experience. In this case, Grape Star is off the hook!
Battery Performance and Number of Puffs
The battery just kept going and going and going! That is a good thing but comes at the expense of flavour quality which nose dives at around the last hours worth of use.
Vapour production seems to hold up incredibly well too throughout its life span.
Over seven hours use from a 500mAh battery is impressive. I reckon 600 puffs is about right for the Vape Pen Pro but bear in mind that loss in flavour quality as well.
Final Review Verdict
The flavour from the Dinner Lady Vape Pen Pro is quite good. I personally think Dinner Lady have toned down the sweetener. I know a lot of disposable vapers will welcome that idea.
Vapour production is spot on and mimics the volume of smoke from a cigarette to a tee.
I thought the battery life actually outlasted the E-liquid on this occasion. The flavour certainly takes a dive over the last hour of use as the disposable begins to run dry.
It loses its sparkle, clarity and defining notes, becoming quite a flat and less tasteful affair.
At least I didn’t get any dry hits so that’s another plus point.
Although I don’t think it’s the best disposable vape out there for flavour, the Dinner Lady Vape Pen Pro gets the job done.
For battery life and a reliable MTL auto draw it’s among the best.
