In this review we have the latest range from e-liquid giants Dinner Lady – the Dinner Lady Fruit Full Bar Salts range!
I remember when Dinner Lady first launched in 2016, with their original range of classic British dessert inspired e-liquids. In particular, I remember their Lemon Tart flavour absolutely blowing up in popularity.
The hype around them was like nothing else I had seen before! It seemed like every vaper I knew at the time was vaping their e-liquids and all the vape talk on social media was around them!
They swiftly cleaned up a lot of industry awards at the time and have continued to do so year on year.
Dinner Lady are now one of the largest and most recognisable UK e-liquid brands, backed with slick marketing and a strong social media presence. Expanding to offer a range of different options such as the Nic Salts range, disposable vape pens and Dinner Lady Moments.
From starting off in 2016 with a team of just two people, Dinner Lady has become a huge company and now supply their e-liquids into over 100 countries. They carefully craft each e-liquid under stringent Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency guidelines, ensuring only the best quality ingredients are used.
Eight years later, they are a brand that just keeps going from strength to strength and have now picked up over 60 different industry awards. Including 5 lifetime achievement awards and even picking up a few of our very own ‘best dessert’ awards in the Ecigclick awards!
What Can We Expect From The Dinner Lady Fruit Full Bar Salts Range?
‘When we do bar, we set the bar’…
Dinner Lady is well known for quality and innovation in the vaping world and Fruit Full Bar Salts is the latest range to be added to their famed stable!
This features a massive 16 different bar salt-styled flavours, which are designed to offer you a disposable-styled full flavour experience in your refillable pod kit. Fruit flavours are the order of the day here, with the range consisting of some of your favourite disposable-styled fruit and menthol blends.
Each one is blended to a 50/50 VG/PG ratio and comes in 10ml TPD compliant bottles. It is also available in nicotine strengths of 5mg, 10mg and 20mg. Nicotine salt is used in the formulation for maximum nicotine craving satisfaction with minimal throat hit.
I tested these e-liquids in my ANYX Iron with a fresh 0.4ohm pod and my Innokin Trine SE (review coming very soon!) with a 0.6ohm pod.
Before I get the review underway, I need to make you aware that this is based on my opinion only and my experiences vaping this range in my selected devices.
Your own experience may differ, as personal preferences and vaping setups used can affect your own perception of an e-liquid.
Strap yourselves in as this is going to be a monster of a review! Vape Club very kindly sent over the full range of sixteen flavours for us in 20mg nicotine strength to take a look at! As always, all views are my own…
Watermelon Ice
They say
Cool and refreshing. This flavour combines the sweetness of ripe Watermelon with an Icy finish. It’s like a chilled slice of watermelon on a hot summer’s day; juicy and refreshing.
We say
The watermelon flavour was a refreshing change from the myriad of candied, artificial watermelon flavourings on the market, as with this I get a realistic tasting watermelon.
I get the watery notes of watermelon that taste so real that you could almost bite into it!
But there’s probably just a bit too much of the watermelon flavouring here and I’m not the biggest fan of watermelon by any stretch. This was really full on and strong and the cooling note does little to counteract it as it wasn’t strong enough.
It’s a realistic watermelon flavour but it is a bit too heavy on the flavouring for me. The cooling sensation was just a bit too subtle, it could have done with being much icier to take the edge off the heavy watermelon flavouring.
Fresh Mint
They say
Crisp and invigorating, this flavour delivers a burst of cool mint that leaves you feeling refreshed and revitalised. It’s a breath of fresh air, clean and uplifting.
We say
This worked superbly well as a palate cleanser after trying out the Watermelon Ice flavour, it also refreshed my pod too!
The mint flavouring is realistic enough, though it could do with a touch more crispness to it. There is a bold cooling element to it but not quite enough for my tastes. But I do prefer a very strong menthol flavour and there isn’t a lot out there that does it for me!
If I’m being picky (and I am) this just needed to be a bit more full-bodied and have a stronger chill to it.
Ultimate Strawberry
They say
The closest thing to real strawberries. Sweet, and slightly tart. This flavour is the ultimate choice for Strawberry lovers.
We say
I doff my cap to Dinner Lady, as per the flavour description this really does get close to the taste of a real strawberry. In fact I would go as far as saying it is the most realistic straight up strawberry e-liquid that I have tried, if not the most realistic one full stop!
There’s some real wizardry going on, that or some absolute experts in blending involved in the creation of this e-liquid (I’ll go for the latter!), as vaping away on this just reminded me of having a mouthful of fresh strawberries. They have even completely nailed the texture and the mouth feel!
Normally, straightforward fruit flavours don’t tend to leave me that taken aback but this one did. If you like a strawberry vape, then you owe it to yourself to give this one a go.
Bravo Dinner Lady, this flavour absolutely sets the standard for other strawberry e-liquids to follow.
Cherry Ice
They say
A bold and refreshing blend. This flavour combines the sweet and tart taste of Cherries with a cool, icy finish. It’s like a Cherry Popsicle on a hot day.
We say
I’d say rather than a Cherry Ice Lolly / Popsicle, this is more like a mouthful of cherries fresh out of the fridge!
I get the sweet and tart cherry taste, that is very full on and heavy, with the flavour notes that I would expect from eating actual cherries themselves. It has quite a thick and syrupy texture to it as well, like it is almost dripping in sweetness.
The sharp, tart finish to it is absolutely delightful and the cooling note has been balanced really well, so that it doesn’t take away from the cherry flavouring that is the absolute star of the show here, but compliments it very nicely indeed.
Pineapple Ice
They say
Cool and refreshing. This flavour combines the sweet taste of Pineapple with an Icy finish. It’s like a tropical breeze on a hot day.
We say
I have tried so many Pineapple Ice e-liquids in my time that I have actually lost count! That being said, I’m still a big fan of them even to this day.
Dinner Lady’s effort is one I’ll be adding to my favourites list, as it delivers a deliciously smooth pineapple juice style flavour that is both sharp and sweet.
It seems like they have paid a lot of attention to detail here. Rather than just throwing out a candied pineapple flavour with a heap of sweetener and a strong cooling effect, the pineapple element is almost nailed perfectly when it comes to realism.
Combined with the cooling effect, it is just like having a cold glass of pineapple juice straight from the fridge, lovely stuff!
Banana Ice
They say
Creamy and cool. This flavour combines the sweet taste of ripe Bananas with an icy finish. It’s like a banana smoothie on a hot day, refreshing and satisfying.
We say
Well this one is really…odd? For my tastebuds anyway!
It’s the first time I’ve actually experienced a banana ice flavour that features a realistic banana taste, as the others that I have tried have all had an artificial banana Foam Sweet flavour to them.
I really did enjoy the realistic banana flavouring, but I just felt it was really strange how that creamy banana texture blends in with the icy cool koolada. I kept trying to tell myself that it was like a cold smoothie, but my palate wasn’t having it!
Still, I’m not convinced that banana e-liquid goes well with a chilly finish to it and I don’t think that will ever change!
Apple Peach
They say
Our Apple Peach Bar Salts is a sweet and fruity blend. This flavour combined the crisp taste of Apples with the juicy notes of Peach. It’s like a bite of a fresh fruit salad.
We say
Oh my, this one is another absolute winner in this range!
I get a really crisp and sweet apple flavouring that reminded me of a glass of fresh apple juice. This gives way to a well-rounded peach flavouring that packs plenty of sweet flavouring, and the juicy notes give this a thick and syrupy feel.
I felt that both flavourings were very realistic in taste and were quite close to the actual fruits themselves.
Even through the flavouring is pretty strong, the flavour delivery overall is quite smooth and really allows me to pick up on the apple and peach flavour notes.
Cola Ice
They say
Cool and refreshing. This flavour combines the classic taste of Cola with an Icy finish. Just like a chilled glass of Cola on a hot day.
We say
I loved how well-crafted the cola flavouring was here.
Rather than the usual flat, cola sweet styled flavour that many Cola Ice blends offer, Dinner Lady have gone all out to blend a cola that gets close to the real thing. Paying attention to the light notes you can pick up on in actual cola, such as a very small hint of cinnamon and a note of vanilla and including these in the blend.
That attention to detail is what sets this Cola Ice flavour apart from many others on the market. The cooling effect only adds to this as it makes it taste like a cold can of cola would.
Authentic and refreshing, this is an excellent Cola Ice e-liquid.
Fresh Fruits
They say
A vibrant and refreshing blend. This flavour combines a medley of Fresh Fruits. It’s like a fruit salad in a glass. Bursting with flavour and refreshing.
We say
This was a very strange one for me. I couldn’t really get much from it other than a jumble of different berry flavours, and a whole load of sweetener.
Rather than it being a ‘fruit salad in a glass’, it was more like a mouthful of incredibly sweet fruit flavoured candies. I couldn’t really make out much in the way of individual flavours, and it left my palate a little dumbfounded.
Just too much going on here!
Strawberry Watermelon
They say
Juicy and luscious, this flavour bursts with the sweetness of sun-ripened Strawberries and the refreshing essence of Watermelon. It’s like a summer symphony in your mouth.
We say
I felt that this was a bit like a cross between the Ultimate Strawberry and the watermelon flavouring present in the Watermelon Ice.
That means that you get a blend of authentic strawberry and watermelon flavours, which is a refreshing change from a lot of the artificial ones that I have tasted.
I taste both of them equally too, with the strawberry coming in first before giving way to the watermelon flavouring.
The watermelon was a bit too much for my tastebuds but I’m sure the fans of watermelon flavoured e-liquids out there will definitely enjoy it!
Kiwi Passion Guava
They say
This exotic trio is a tropical paradise in every vape. The tangy Kiwi, succulent Passion Fruit, and Sweet Guava create a vibrant and zesty medley of flavours.
We say
Now I have tried a whole load of kiwi, passionfruit, and guava blends over the past year, and have probably been a bit fatigued by them all (most bar salt ranges seem to have them!). But I was still intrigued to see if Dinner Lady could work their magic with it.
Now it might have been a bit of palate fatigue after trying tons of different kiwi, passionfruit, and guava mixes but I did feel that Dinner Lady’s take on this wasn’t all that much different from all the others.
The kiwi is perhaps a bit more enhanced, as that is a note that I struggle to pick up on in a lot of the others I have tried out. But overall this seemed to follow the same blueprint as most of the others do.
I get the passionfruit and guava first off, with a thick tropical feel to them. I could actually pick up on the kiwi flavouring towards the end which adds some sour notes to the sweet tropical mix of passionfruit and guava.
It’s not bad by any means, I think I’ve just tried too many of the same blend recently!
Mango Passion
They say
A tropical delight. This flavour blends the rich, sweet taste of Mango with the exotic notes of Passion Fruits. It’s a luscious and vibrant combination that transports you to a sunny beach.
We say
Some of my favourite mango blends were the strong and sweet Malaysian styled e-liquids that were all the rage a few years back, and this one is very much in that vein.
What that means is that I get a really dominant mango flavouring, with a lot of sweetness, and this absolutely saturates my mouth with delicious mango.
The passionfruit is more of a background note to the mango, which can be unusual for passionfruit flavouring I have found, as that tends to be quite a dominant flavour in most blends. I felt it was a passionfruit juice type flavour, blending with an authentic mango.
I can safely say that I did really enjoy this one as the bottle barely lasted me two days!
Kiwi Passion Lime
They say
A zesty and vibrant blend. This flavour combines the tangy Kiwi, exotic Passion Fruit, and a burst of refreshing Lime. It’s like a tropical fiesta – energising and fulfilling.
We say
I have just covered the Kiwi and Passionfruit notes in the Kiwi Passion Guava section above, and they are much the same here!
In fact, this one vapes pretty much the same as Kiwi Passion Guava, but obviously substitutes the guava flavouring for a key lime styled lime.
I actually preferred this one to the Kiwi Passion Guava, as it was a nice change of pace. I have vaped an awful lot of kiwi, passionfruit, and guava blends over the past year!
Lemon & Lime
They say
A zesty and refreshing blend. This flavour combined the tangy taste of Lemon and Lime. It’s a citrus explosion; bright and bold.
We say
If there’s one flavour that you can say Dinner Lady are experts at, then that is lemon! The huge success of their Lemon Tart e-liquid is absolute testament to that.
The lemon flavouring here is much like a Sicilian lemon I felt, it is quite strong and punchy and there is a delicious lemon zest twang to it. The lime was quite like the taste of the lime found in a Key Lime Pie, which is one of my favourite flavour notes.
Dinner Lady set themselves apart from a lot of the other lemon and lime blends on the market with this one, as quite a lot of others tend to taste like a lemon and lime Ice Lolly / Popsicle.
This one is a top lemon and lime blend and right up there with some of the absolute best on the market.
Blue Raspberry
They say
A bold and vibrant blend. This flavour combines the sweet and tart taste of Blue Raspberries. It’s like a Berry explosion in your mouth.
We say
I think this one had a little too much flavouring! This one was an example of too much of something being a bad thing.
The blue raspberry flavouring is just too strong here, and it ended up tasting harsh and artificial. There was also a nasty sour chemical aftertaste to it, and a lot of sweetener present that felt like it left a coating around my mouth.
Not one for me, I didn’t really enjoy this at all.
Pineapple Orange
They say
A tropical and vibrant blend. This flavour combines the sweet taste of Pineapple with the zesty notes of Orange. It’s like a sunny day in a glass.
We say
I’m a sucker for an exotic combo like this one so I was very excited indeed to give this one a go.
And it didn’t fail to deliver at all. Right from the get-go, this offers a ton of strong flavouring but without the harsh aftertaste that some disposable styled bar salt e-liquids have. Though it is very sweet, but that seems to fit in perfectly with this blend!
Realistic pineapple and orange flavours combine, tasting like a blend of fresh pineapple and orange juices. This left me with a thick, sweet mouthfeel and the flavour delivery was so smooth that I was happily puffing away on this one all day long.
I find the mark of a good e-liquid is one that just hooks me in and doesn’t let go, and that is exactly what happened when I was vaping this.
Along with the Ultimate Strawberry, this is an e-liquid that I absolutely will be ordering again that is for sure!
Final Review Verdict
If there is one thing that Dinner Lady knows, it is how to deliver flavour! Some of these are incredibly realistic tasting, with the Ultimate Strawberry flavour a key example of this.
I’ve happily vaped away on their e-liquids on and off since 2016, with the Lemon Tart and Cornflake Tart being amongst my all-time favourites. So I’m always happy to try out anything new that they have to offer!
They really are at the top of the game when it comes to blending, delivering flavours that taste exactly how you would expect them to and living up to their flavour descriptions. You know you are getting a quality e-liquid when it has Dinner Lady’s name on it!
With the Fruit Full Bar Salts range, there is a large choice of full-flavoured, disposable-styled bar salts to be found. These also have a spin on some of the most popular disposable flavours on the market, so you’ve got the option of trying something new or experiencing one of your old favourites in a new way.
Anyway, I’ve run out of superlatives to apply to Dinner Lady, if bar salts are your bag then do yourself a favour and head on over to Vape Club to grab a few of these bad boys!
Many thanks to Vape Club for sending the Dinner Lady Fruit Full range over for review. These are available from them now for the bargain price of £2.99 per 10ml bottle or you can grab four for £10!
