The Choppa Salts E-liquid range is brought to us from the people who run the popular vape retailer Choppa Vapes!
Choppa Vapes first released their own e-liquid in 2014 and has now branched out into wholesale of its e-liquid due to demand. I originally tried their Choppa Collection e-liquids in July 2021.
Choppa have appeared in our own EcigClick Awards several times, being nominated for the “Best Overall Store UK”, “Best Bricks and Mortar UK”, “Best Value E-liquid” and “Best UK e-liquid brand” categories over the years.
Choppa has 2 retail brick and mortar stores (Accrington Lancashire and Blandford Forum Dorset) plus retail and wholesale web sites, not to mention their popular social media groups.
Thank you to the guys from Choppa Vapes for sending the Choppa Salts over for review, my opinions are my own experience with the products provided. Also people’s own taste preferences, equipment used and nicotine strength can alter the experience so bear that in mind!
What Can We Expect From The Choppa Salts E-liquid Range?
This range (as the name implies) uses Nicotine Salt as the nicotine included. This offers smoother vape and quicker nicotine absorption compared to a similar concentration of Freebase nicotine. If this is making your head itch, you either have nits or need to read my Guide To Nicotine Salt E-liquid.
You can choose from either 10mg or 20mg Nic Salt strength.
All of the Choppa e-liquid is developed, manufactured and bottled in the UK and are TPD compliant.
One thing I noticed was how thin the bottle nozzles are – so there should be no issues with them being too big for pod kits! Nice work Choppa!
Choppa Salts E-liquid Specifications…
The Choppa Salts bottles I have been sent are 10ml in capacity and 10mg nicotine salt strength.
The mix ratio is 50%VG/50%PG which makes it suitable for starter kits and MTL (Mouth to lung) kits.
We tell you more what the terms “PG” and “VG” mean in our Guide To E-liquid.
I received the full range of 10x10ml bottles in the following flavours…
- Sweet Caramel Vanilla Custard
- Blue Slush
- P.O.G. Punch
- Forest Fruits
- Red Slush
- Black Widow
- Pink Lemonade
- Fantasi Grape
- Summer Blast
- Fantasi Mango
For this review I am using a Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA attached to my Freemax Maxus 50W mod.
For each liquid I did a dry burn to clean the coil and installed new Cotton Bacon Prime Wicking.
There might be some similarities between the flavours in this review and the Choppa Collection review as some of the flavours are the same!
Sweet Caramel Vanilla Custard
Choppa Vapes Says:
Moreish Vanilla Custard blended with sticky Caramel. Truly Decadent..
I Say…
As with the Choppa Collection review – this was the flavour I was dreading the most.
I hate desserts and custardy vapes but was pleasantly surprised – I hope this is the same!
From sniffing the bottle contents this does have a Custard aroma with a tinge of Brandy – ooh fingers crossed!
Phew this is great to vape too, not a flavour I would choose myself but is miles away from being revolting!
There is a lot of Vanilla but it is not too sickly and I can taste the Caramel too.
I am also getting a Brandy like back-note which stops the whole thing being too sweet. This may be to do with the Caramel but I think it really enhances the flavour.
This reminds me of a Christmassy vibe – Brandy in a pudding with Custard!
10/10 for sure as it provides everything it promises!
Blue Slush
Choppa Vapes Says:
A syrupy fusion of Sweet Blueberries and Raspberries. Proper Blue Slush.
I Say…
If I was stood in front of the counter at Choppa this is probably the flavour I would choose first.
The whiff test gives me a Blackcurrant fruity sweet aroma and it is mouth-watering!
I hope this is as yummy to vape!
This time the liquid is a clear colour rather than the vibrant Blue of the high VG version. Therefore this should be a bit kinder to your wicking / coils.
When vaping I am instantly reminded of the Blue Tip Tops (Ice Pops) I used to have as a child. There is some Coolada involved which makes it even more like the iced treats I used to enjoy.
The Blue Raspberry and Blueberries really sing through the cooling and it is sweet and tart at the same time which is so hard to describe!
As you start inhaling you have the lovely sweetness and after the inhale the tarty aspect comes forward.
This is not as syrupy as the higher VG version and feels slightly cooler.
If I had bought this I would be very happy with my choice!
All in all extremely refreshing, full of flavour and another 10/10 from me!
P.O.G. Punch
Choppa Vapes Says:
Thirst-quenching Fresh Pineapples, Juicy Orange, mouth-watering Guava .
I Say:
I didn’t enjoy this flavour in the Choppa Collection review sadly. I am hoping this version makes me happier!
Anyway to be honest I am not marking these on whether I like them, I have to be brave and assess how close the flavour is to the description.
Smelling the contents gives me the mashup of Pineapple and an Orange like scent too.
I have zero clue as to what Guava smells or tastes like so I can only describe what signals my taste buds are giving me when vaping!
Unfortunately like with my previous review I really don’t like this one – I know you don’t care!
What I do get is some cooling, a lot of Pineapple, no Orange and a weird soapy fragrant taste. I think that must be the Guava that is reminding me of soap.
This might be perfectly normal for Guava?
The smell was much better than the flavour on this one – but it might be just my taste buds and inexperience with Guava!
This will get lower marks for me as the Orange is not prominent and the soapy yukkiness has spoilt it.
Forest Fruits
Choppa Vapes Says:
Medley of the juiciest fruits. Sweet berry infusion
I Say…
Forest Fruits remind me of Blackberries, Raspberries etc and the aroma from the bottle is as beautiful as I expected. As you can probably guess this is one of the flavours I would be drawn to if I was purchasing e-liquid.
If it tastes like it smells I will be a happy bunny.
The inhale gives a super fruity vibe, with a definite Strawberry element coming first, being backed up with a Blueberry and Raspberry backnote.
A lot of e-liquids are very dilute in flavour so I wasn’t expecting the flavour to live up to the smell. But here it really does.
It is not sickly sweet yet it is not tart or sour either, it is super well blended. A proper all day vape which won’t put you off eating!
I have dropped 0.5 marks as I would like a bit more concentrate of flavour added as this is beautiful and would be lovely with a little bit more of a punch. However it is still wonderful as it stands, I am just greedy!
Red Slush
Choppa Vapes Says:
Fresh Strawberries, Refreshing Pineapple blended to a syrupy sensation.
I Say:
Opening the bottle gives the smell of all the ingredients mentioned in the description which is a great start!
Also worth mentioning this is a clear liquid compared to the Red dye used in the high VG version.
This has a cooling sensation – not mega icy but there does feel like some coolant has been added – I was not expecting that!
On the inhale this is very Pineapple heavy – to be honest that is all I can taste.
I do get a sweet syrupy texture from this but I am not finding any Strawberry lurking round the gaff?
Am a bit gutted as this smelt so promising. If you like Pineapple you will not be disappointed at all, but I prefer Strawberry which sadly seems to have legged it with this one.
As this is predominantly Pineapple I will be dropping a few marks for the description not being as accurate. It is still a lovely vape – no problems there, but not quite as described.
Black Widow
Choppa Vapes Says:
Juicy Blackcurrants, Exotic Lychee and Fresh-cut Smooth Guava
I Say:
I have to be 100% honest here, I have zero clue as to what Guava and Lychee should taste like. There was Guava in the POG Punch e-liquid above and I am not sure if that is what gives off the “soapy” taste?
Anyway I am familiar with Blackcurrant and its synthetic creations are my favourite flavour.
Sniffing the bottle top reminds me of Blackcurrant Menthol sweets – you know the kind you would have when you have a sore throat – Tunes or Soothers. So the aroma theory backs up the description somewhat – but how does it vape?
The first thing I get is a soapy menthol taste. Gutted – where is the yummy Blackcurrant I was looking forward to.
The Blackcurrant does come through on the exhale and lingers after the vape – phew! Also the flavour on my lips is the same as the smell – the Menthol Blackcurrant. But the predominant flavour must be the Guava and Lychee as the initial inhale bears no resemblance to Blackcurrant for me.
It might be my taste buds and preference! I’m sure there are people who love Guava and Lychee, I really wish right now I was one of them! We are all different, so this is not a dig at Choppa – just not an e-liquid I would choose.
I will concede that after 10 mins of vaping this it has grown on me slightly and I am not as offended by the hand-wash qualities.
I will be generous with the score for this as I assume this fits with the description, despite me likening it to chewing on Imperial Leather.
Pink Lemonade
Choppa Vapes Says:
Our Signature Lemonade Infused with Fresh Strawberries and Raspberries
I Say:
This is a new flavour to me – I didn’t sample this in the high VG version of my previous review.
I don’t get much of an aroma from this bottle, which is a surprise as so far the other flavours have smelt wonderful.
Wow vaping this is like a glass of Lemonade! Even down to a fizzy tongue sensation! The Lemony tang makes your tongue tingle!
I will say this has a dominant Lemonade flavour, but there is a backnote which dials down the tartness. This must be the Strawberry and Raspberry splash. There is not a recognisable Strawberry or Raspberry but there is a sweeter almost syrupy note which wraps around the vapour on the exhale.
I am not sure if this shows amazing blending – being able to not specifically identify the fruits involved in the background or whether this means they require more oomph in the flavour department.
All I know is this is beautiful and is a proper refreshing vape. I am not a Coolada fan but this is one flavour which would benefit from a smidgeon of cooling to make it even more refreshing.
High marks for enjoyment, slightly dropping half a mark for the other fruits not being more prominent. But if you love Lemonade without it being that sour it sucks your pants up your bum, this is the perfect flavour for you (and me!!).
Fantasi Grape
Choppa Vapes Says:
A selection of Ripe Mixed Grapes with a refreshing cool exhale
I Say:
Grape flavour is one that can be hit or miss, sometimes amazing and sometimes like cleaning products. I am hoping this version is in the former category!
The smell is promising so far, not synthetic and smells, well, Grapey!
Instantly I am surprised by the cold inhale, I know it is mentioned on the description but it did take me by surprise, especially as I had a good old lungful!
After the shock of the iciness wears off you do get the Grape coming through.
I do find the Coolada is masking a lot of the flavour as it is restricting the length of vape I can have without my throat freezing up. Also your tongue gets frozen inhibiting the sensitivity of the taste buds!
You are left with an odd aftertaste which feels like a mixture of Grapes and Toothpaste – like the sensation of a cold Grape drink after brushing your teeth.
Sadly this one is not for me.
Summer Blast
Choppa Vapes Says:
Tantalising Kiwi, Ripe Strawberry, sweet Honeydew Melon, splash of Pomegranate!
I Say:
This one smells incredibly fruity, but I am unable to sniff out each fruit specifically. In fact the whole blend has a Pineappley aroma!
When vaping this it is an odd one to judge. As with the smell, there is such a blend that no one flavour is prominent.
This does not taste of Pineapple though! It is a weird medley with some sourness and some earthiness – it almost tastes like fruit peel to me. There doesn’t appear to be much sweetness here.
I am a bit stumped here, this is not a flavour I personally like. Also as there are no distinct fruits jumping out at me it is hard to judge whether this meets the brief or not. This flavour appears to have no cooling added which does match the description.
Also I am getting an overly synthetic aftertaste too which I assume is the Kiwi – of which I am not a fan.
Fantasi Mango
Choppa Vapes Says:
Handpicked Ripe Mangos. Cool Exhale. Taste of the Caribbean.
I Say:
I have never been a fan of Mango vapes despite the fact I could bathe in Mango Chutney! Too much of a sweet tooth!
The smell is turbo Mango all the way!
Despite me not favouring Mango this is quite delicious. Tastes like a bowl of fresh Mango straight out of the fridge. It is not synthetic or artificial tasting at all.
There are earthy and sweet notes but thankfully no sour or tang to this flavour.
I am getting a definite hint of cooling without any menthol or minty taste which is perfect!
Although not the first flavour I would choose off the shelf – if I bought this bottle I would be pleasantly surprised! Excellent work!
Choppa Salts E-liquid Final Review Verdict
Wow I have been enjoying these e-liquids – but there were a few which really were not for me. I have marked a few lower as the description didn’t match the taste. It is not my job to mark these on whether I like them or not.
I had 3 flavours which got full marks and 2 which came in close at 9.5! Quite an achievement in a range this size!
Unfortunately some of these flavours I am not familiar with in fruit form so this may impair my judgement of how accurate the fruit notes are. So always take my thoughts as a guide – I may have wonky taste buds you never know!
All the liquids had a great throat hit yet still felt smooth to vape – a real sign of good Nic Salts!
