Based in the UK CBD Asylum as the name suggests is a company specializing in all things Cannabidiol and supply various ranges of among other things e-liquids.
What Can We Expect From the CBD Asylum E-liquid Range?
CBD is the abbreviation of Cannabidiol and derives from the cannabis plant however the THC which gives users the high is removed.
CBD Asylum e-liquids use the supercritical C02 method of extracting the CBD and full details can be found on their superb website including all the facts you’ll ever need to know about their products and possible ‘benefits’.
For further information on vaping CBD we have a dedicated section on our website which includes reviews and a Guide to CBD Vaping.
OK before we take a look at the samples I was sent for this review – thank you – a quick disclaimer.
Despite hundreds of thousands of pieces of mainly anecdotal evidence on the health and other benefits of CBD the medical profession and other experts are – in general – reluctant to endorse any of the products.
To that end and despite using it daily for almost 2 years now I am not allowed to make any claims as to how it may [or may not 😉 ] have helped me – so please do your own research before trying CBD!
OK I ran the CBD Asylum e-liquids through the Aspire K2 tank on top of the JacVapour Series B DNA75 at a steady 18w.
The CBD X range is 50PG 50VG whilst the Vape It and CBD Infuse is 80VG 20PG. Lets see if it’s a contender for our best CBD vape oil UK list.
CBD X – Puddings Range – Lemon Meringue
Ok no description of the flavour however it’s not hard to guess what this one is!
And like the rest of the CBD X pudding flavours this has 100mg of CBD within a 10ml bottle of e-liquid.
I’ve tried so many lemon flavoured e-liquids now I know a good one when I taste one.
This is just short of being delicious mainly due to the lack of tartness I want from this type of vape – sweet in – tart out so to speak!
It’s not overly sweet indeed it’s very pleasant tasting and with a touch more sharpness this would be bang on my flavour profile.
CBD X – Fruits and Drink Range – Pink Berry
Oh now this one is delicious!
The smell gives a hint of what to come with sugary sweet ripe berries but with a hint of fizz!
I’m getting a rush of raspberry on the inhale with a lovely little fizzy tang to it.
There’s a cornucopia of fruity fruits on the exhale with the merest and I mean merest hint of botanicals lingering on the back of your tongue.
I could quite happily vape on this all day!
If the mixologist made this a regular 80/20 VG/PG e-liquid this would definitely make it into my all-time favourites let’s put it that way!
CBD X – Sweets Range – Rhubarb and Custard
Think those boiled sweets we used to suck on as kids and you’ll get an idea where we’re going with this one.
Again it’s not as sharp as I might like but certainly there’s a slight tang before the custard comes in.
To be honest once I’d had a few toots on this I kind of lose the rhubarb with the custard taking over leaving a perfumed vanilla taste in my mouth that I honestly didn’t find that nice.
Vape It – Fruity
I received the 1000mg 10ml bottle which comes at a truly eye-watering price!
Given this is 1000mg and extremely expensive – I did scratch my head wondering if I should add a few drops of this precious liquid into one of my juice flavours – as you do with freebase CBD’s – rather than drip or fill my tank.
This really is expensive stuff and it will hit your pocket filling a 2ml tank five times at the cost of around £14 per fill!
The site doesn’t advise either way BTW!
However given the quite high ‘dosage’ of CBD I recommend this to be vaped on through the day to top up your levels and not as you’d vape a normal e-liquid or lower strength CBD juice!
OK I tried it both ways adding half a dozen drops to my Lemon Refresher e-liquid and also ‘neat’ so to speak.
Mixing it with my go to e-liquid I did detect another fruity note way in the background with the merest hint of those botanicals I love.
However neat and this is actually a very very tasty e-liquid – one would certainly hope so!
It’s a fruit cocktail – obviously – and I’m picking up apple and possibly a sweeter fruit like strawberry maybe?
Once again and slightly stronger is a layer of that botanical taste which does lift this particular CBD juice to a level I like.
CBD Infuse 500mg – Strawberries and Cream
Not as expensive as the Vape It range but still pretty dear.
CBD Infuse comes in a range of six flavours and up to a max of a staggering 2,000mg – wow!
I received the 500mg and this is around the level of CBD I tend to vape on each day.
I’m not a massive fan of any of the famous strawberries and cream e-liquids however this one is actually quite tasty.
The smell from the bottle is absolutely divine really making you want to dive right in – but remember this is a reasonably strong CBD e-liquid so little and often through the day no matter how moreish it is!
And trust me this one is extremely moreish with sweet ripe strawberries to the fore before a not to sweet cream creates a velvety vape with once again those delicious botanical flavours on the back note.
Very nice indeed!
Final Review Verdict
I still can’t quite believe how expensive these are!
Yes I know cost is relative and the 100mg flavoured CBD range is around average – but there’s a 10ml bottle of CBD Infuse 2000mg e-liquid on there costing over £100!
At that price I’d want it coming in a gold bottle and for it to cure all my ills!
Ok in all seriousness and given as I said in my last CBD review I’m not allowed to make any claims that CBD is a health benefit – and my body is pretty pumped full of the stuff and has been for the past year or so – I can only go on the flavour.
But what I will say is I have noticed using the Vape It 1000mg for the past week instead of my usual freebase 1000mg drops I add to my e-liquid – my sleep patterns are better and my back – neck and joints are not as stiff…and despite having a lot of stuff on my mind I’m not as anxious as I would expect to be…
That could be the warmer weather – who knows – and given I’m not a medical practitioner or scientist that’s just my general observations so please take that at face value or anecdotal as we say!
And I have been sensible with a 2ml tank lasting me a couple of days tooting on it a dozen or so times through the day – as you should with larger doses of CBD infused e-liquids.
So technically and if used carefully and sensibly the you may feel and I say may feel that you’re spreading the cost…
As to the actual flavours I’m extremely impressed.
The mixologists could definitely make a name for himself or herself if they went down the plain old e-liquid route let’s put it that way!
For first timers to CBD I would recommend the 100mg CBD X range – a nice gentle introduction and if the rest of the flavours are as good as the 3 I tried very very palatable indeed.
As to the others..?
The CBD Infuse 500mg is the nicest strawberry and cream e-liquid I’ve ever tried and I feel sure those regular users looking for the alleged benefits will be more than happy with the taste and possible effects 😉
The Fruity flavour from the Vape It range is actually delicious as a standalone vape [use sparingly through the day!] and really does add a twist with a few drops in your regular e-liquid!
In a nutshell I can’t say I’m crazy over the CBD Asylum e-liquid pricing but the flavours I’ve tried are very good indeed and as they say “a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down…” not that CBD is medicine I hasten to add 😉
hi Neil, my daughter need a stronger cbd vaping oil for her Fibromyalgia because of the pain. She is also on Morphine patches, but cbd really helps. what is the best and strongest she can buy, as you also list cbd infused @ which goes up to 2000mg?!
Charlotte has a vaper and a lower dose oil, but needs more pain control.
