Aspire are an absolutely huge name in the vaping industry and one of their latest kits is the Aspire Veynom LX, which is what we will be having a look at in today’s review!

front view aspire veynom

Originally becoming well known for producing excellent tanks, both big airy cloud chasing tanks down to tight Mouth To Lung ones, Aspire further diversified into producing some very interesting mods and pod systems.

We have previewed a few of their recent and upcoming releases, such as the Minican 4, Huracan LX/ EX, the Raga AIO and reviewed the Cyber X.

I must admit, it’s been a while since I have used an Aspire product (save for the timeless Nautilus stock coils!) Having previously been an early adopter and a big fan of old Aspire products such as the Nautilus tank, Atlantis 2, Cleito, NX75 mod and the Aspire Gusto Mini – one of the really early forerunners of the pre-filled pod systems you see today!

What Can We Expect From The Aspire Veynom LX?

Aspire’s Veynom LX is one of the latest pod kit systems to hit the market. It aims to cater for Mouth To Lung (MTL) and Direct To Lung vaping (DTL). We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles!

There are two versions of the Aspire Veynom that have hit the market, one is the EX and the other is the LX.

veynom lx ex banner

And they are virtually identical, with the only difference being that the EX is slightly larger on account of it taking a single 18650/21700 or 20700 battery.

Whereas the LX has a built in 3200mAh battery that has 2A fast charging through its USB Type-C port.veynom lx battery

With the Veynom LX, you have a huge range of options to really customise your vape. You have variable wattage, variable voltage and adjustable airflow. Plus the Veynom LX also supports temperature control, bypass mode and custom output power curves with CPS mode.

veynom modes

If you don’t fancy messing about with settings, simply use Auto Mode which will automatically select the best power output for you based on the resistance of your selected coil.

A large 0.96 inch TFT colour screen clearly displays relevant vaping information and the brightness can be adjusted to your preference.

There’s also an LED around the power button, that can be customised with six different settings!

At the bottom of the device is a manual on / off switch to help prevent accidental activation / adjustment when carrying around.

There’s 8 colours to choose from: Silver, Gunmetal, Black, Chrome Blue Fade, Teal Purple Fade, Gold Pink Fade, Metallic Fade and Rainbow.

The Veynom pod tank comes included with the kit and features a 2ml capacity for areas covered by the TPD Regulations and a 5ml capacity outside of TPD regulated areas. A screw-to-open top filling system is provided.

It is compatible with Aspire’s BP series of coils, making it a great option for both MTL and DTL vapers.

If you don’t get on with the included Veynom pod tank and would prefer to use your own tank there’s also the ability to purchase a 510 adaptor for the Veynom LX.

Rotate the pod component inside the device to open or close the airflow inlet to suit your preference.

Design and Build Quality

Vape Club sent me the Teal Purple Fade version for review.

As the name might suggest, there’s a lovely Chrome Teal and Purple finish on this kit. There are Carbon Fibre wrap accents on it and ‘VEYNOM LX’ in Silver in between the Carbon Fibre.

aspire veynom lx in hand

It is a reasonably large bit of kit, measuring in at 129.6mm x 34mm x 28mm. But it fits nicely in my hand with only the Veynom tank poking out of the top when I hold it. At 164g in weight, it is quite weighty as well and I definitely know it is there when carrying it around in my pocket!

OLED Screen / Buttons

On the front of the device, there is a large 0.96inch TFT colour screen. This is a standout feature of the Aspire Veynom LX kit, displaying information clearly on its large screen. On here, you’ll see battery life displayed in a bar and as a percentage, the selected output mode, power setting, output voltage, amp draw, coil resistance and a puff counter.

Below the screen are the plus and minus power adjustment buttons as well as the USB Type-C charging port. Above the screen is a large square fire button. This is ringed by an LED that lights up during use and you can customise this with six different presets through the menu system. Or just turn it off entirely if it isn’t to your tastes!

oled screen aspire veynom lx

At the base is a Silver on / off switch, which makes a change from the usual 3/5 clicks of the fire button to turn a device on and off!

That being said, it took a little bit of getting used to! In the first few days of using this device there was more than one occasion where I found myself clicking the fire button in vain, trying to turn the Veynom LX off, before remembering the power switch at the base!

Pod Tank

On top, is Aspire’s Veynom pod tank, which connects magnetically to the Veynom device.

veynom tank battery

This can make swapping coils a breeze, as you simply remove the tank, slide out the coil from the base and slide in the new one. Rotating the tank also allows you to adjust the airflow.

Capacity wise, you are looking at 2ml if purchasing the TPD product and 5ml for the non-TPD version.

Both of which are actually the same size! The 2ml capacity is achieved with the use of a large Silicon plug inserted into the original 5ml tank, which you cannot remove as the tank is sealed.

This not only reduces the capacity of the tank to make it compliant with TPD regulations, it also reduces visibility through the PolyCarbonate tank section. Meaning that you can only see e-liquid level through a small gap in the Silicon plug, which is a bit annoying.

I can only imagine this was done to save costs, as not only would a separate 2ml tank need to be manufactured for the TPD market, the Veynom LX device would probably need to be resized as well to accommodate a different sized tank.

Aspire may well have recognised that this compromise on tank capacity may not be to everyone’s liking, as if you decide that the Veynom tank isn’t for you and would like to use your own 510 threaded tank, you can purchase a 510 adaptor for the Veynom mod. This wasn’t included with my review product so I can’t comment on how this works!

Build quality is pretty impressive, this does feel and look like a very premium product. The finish has held up during the ten days that I have used it and I’ve not yet managed to pick up any noticeable scratches.

Quick Start Guide

Firstly, turn the device on using the power switch at the base of the mod – not by clicking the fire button five times! It will take around three seconds to boot up and will display the Aspire logo on the screen whilst booting.

As standard the fire button fires the device and the plus and minus buttons adjust the power output.

Combinations of these buttons are used to access menu settings…

  • You can lock and unlock the plus and minus adjustment buttons by holding down the plus and minus buttons, if you don’t want to inadvertently change power settings with the kit in your pocket or bag, however this will not lock the fire button.
  • You can lock the fire button by pressing the fire button three times continuously.
  • To adjust the screen brightness and to adjust the LED display around the fire button (or turn it off entirely), hold down the fire and minus button. This will bring you into the menu interface and you can switch between the LED adjustment and screen brightness by pressing the fire button. Plus and minus will adjust the setting.
  • Changing output modes is done by pressing the fire and plus buttons simultaneously. The selected output setting will flash, and you’ll be able to cycle through and select a different output mode as covered below.

User Modes

  • AUTO – the Veynom LX will detect the resistance of the coil and automatically select a recommended power output for it.
  • WATT – standard variable wattage output mode, adjust the wattage from 1-100W in 0.5W increments by using the plus and minus buttons.
  • VOLTAGE – changes the output to variable voltage, adjust the voltage from 0.5-9V in 0.01V increments by using the plus and minus buttons.
  • BYPASS – makes the Veynom LX behave much like a mechanical mod (with safety protections!) Output is determined by coil resistance and battery level, and will decrease power output over time in line with battery level.
  • CPS – Customisable Power Setting (custom curve) mode, set a custom power output for each puff by individually adjusting power levels on the P1/P2/P3/P4 and P5 slots.
  • TC – Temperature Control Mode, only compatible with suitable Ni, Ti and SS coils. Allows you to vape via selected temperature level rather than output wattage/voltage and provides dry hit protection.

Safety protections are built into the Aspire Veynom LX and these include 10 second overtime, open circuit, short circuit, low resistance, low voltage, overcharge, over heat and abnormal charge protections.

Filling The tank

The Veynom pod tank features a screw-to-open top filling system. So to fill up the tank you simply grasp the drip tip with one hand, hold the tank with the other and unscrew the top.

how to fill aspire veynom tank

This reveals a choice of two silicone filling holes, simply insert your bottle nozzle in either and squeeze to fill.

If you are filling the tank with a brand new coil present, pop a few drips of e-liquid down the middle of the coil and leave it to stand for at least five minutes before using it to ensure that it is fully primed.

Charging

A USB Type-C charging port is located below the screen and you do get a USB Type-C charging cable included in the box.

Whilst charging the screen displays the current battery level both as a bar and as a percentage, so you know exactly how far along the charging process it is.

aspire veynom lx buttons

Up to 2A fast charging is supported so the Aspire Veynom LX charges up in next to no time at all!

How Does The Aspire Veynom LX perform?

Included in the kit are the 0.3ohm and the 0.15ohm Aspire BP coils. These feature a mesh construction and the 0.15ohm coil is installed in the Veynom tank out of the box.

airflow veynom xlUsing the 0.15ohm coil allows you to really push the capabilities of the Veynom LX device.

This is recommended for use in the 60-80W range though I’ve found you can push this coil even higher than that. This is definitely better suited for use with the airflow fully open and delivers a very warm and flavourful vape. Though it will make the top of the device and the tank quite warm too when chain vaping!

My preference was actually to use the 0.3ohm coil. This is better suited to a Restricted Direct Lung (RDL) vape (my own personal preference) and performs great with the airflow around half open.

This is designed for use in the 30-40W range and delivers a cooler vape than the 0.15ohm coil and also delivers a vape absolutely packed with flavour.

veynom lx tank

I was definitely impressed with the performance of both of these coils, with superb flavour delivered by both of them and no issues wicking e-liquid right up to 80% VG.

I also didn’t experience any spitback or leaking when using either of them, just the occasional small bit of condensation at the base of the tank that I needed to wipe off now and again.

The Veynom pod tank is compatible with the full range of Aspire BP coils and there are plenty of different versions to try out.

A cloudy vape is still a guilty pleasure of mine from time to time! Both of these included coils are capable of delivering room-filling clouds of dense flavour with the power cranked up and the airflow wide open.

I can’t say how this will perform on the MTL front. You can certainly shut the airflow right down, but the drip tip is a little too wide for a MTL vape. Plus the included 0.3ohm and 0.15ohm coils certainly aren’t suitable for MTL vaping in the slightest!

veynom lx vapeHaving the Auto setting is quite handy, as by using this mode the Veynom will automatically detect the resistance of the coil and set a recommended power output for you.

Bypass mode is an old relic of the past and the power output decreases in line with battery life. Fun to test out but definitely not my preferred way to vape. I have long since moved on from a mechanical mod vape!

As I do like to tinker about with different wattage settings however, so I much preferred using the variable wattage and voltage modes.

I must admit to having a fair bit of fun with the CPS mode, as with this I could set the Veynom to fire a range of different wattages. Which can really change your vape and even get more out of your e-liquids.

This worked very well with some e-liquids that feature complex flavour profiles. You might even pick up on some flavour notes you never noticed before!

I couldn’t test out the temperature control mode on this device as the included coils are not compatible, in fact none of the Aspire BP coils are from what I can see.

veynom lx buttons

Unless Aspire are planning on releasing some temperature control coils for the BP range, to take advantage of this you would have to purchase the 510 adaptor for the Veynom device and use a different tank with a suitable Ni, Ti or SS coil fitted.

A bit of a negative that I found during use was that of the battery life. With my vaping habits, from a full charge this would barely last me into the early evening let alone a full day using the 0.3ohm coil.

The 0.15ohm coil would perform even worse, I would get a couple of hours at the recommended power settings.

Now, the Veynom LX sports a 3200mAh built in battery, so I would have expected a little bit more from it! Thankfully it charges very quickly due to having up to 2A fast charging.

Another aspect to consider is that these coils are extremely thirsty. Both the 0.3ohm coil and the 0.15ohm coil absolutely hammer the poor 2ml capacity of the Veynom pod tank and I can easily refill this 3-5 times a day. Sometimes even more!

Pros

  • Rock solid build quality and great looks
  • Fantastic performance, superb flavour and clouds
  • Compatible with a huge range of different coils
  • Loads of different customisable options to have a play around with
  • 0.96inch TFT colour screen is a particular highlight
  • Screw-to-open top fill system makes refilling a breeze
  • Very easy to replace coils
  • Charges up very quickly for a mod of this size thanks to 2A fast charging
  • No leaks during use
  • 510 adaptor option allows you to use a different tank if you so wish

Cons

  • Full view of your e-liquid inside the tank is obscured (thanks, TPD regulations!)
  • Replacing the top cap of the tank after filling can lead to the airflow being inadvertently adjusted
  • Battery life drains quicker than expected
  • Temperature control mode is a bit pointless as the BP coils are not compatible
  • 0.15ohm and 0.3ohm BP coils are very thirsty – expect to be refilling a lot!
  • Only 0.3ohm and 0.15ohm coils included, no MTL option out of the box
  • 510 adaptor needs to be purchased separately

Final Verdict

Aspire’s Veynom LX has got to be the most feature-rich device I have reviewed recently. There’s a whole wealth of options to play around with in this kit, meaning you can really customise the vape to your own preferences.

Performance-wise, it has been virtually faultless. You get excellent flavour and clouds with this kit and it can deliver some real power. Though the battery life won’t get you through a full day if you vape reasonably heavily.

Having compatibility with the full range of Aspire’s widely-available BP coil range means that you have a lot of coil options to choose from, with options for DTL and MTL vapers with everything in-between.

If you are in the market for a new pod tank kit then you can’t really go wrong with this one. There’s a lot of plus points with it and the negatives that I have found during use are only minor. It’s certainly a kit that I’ll be using well into the future!

Many thanks to Vape Club for sending the Aspire Veynom LX kit in for review, this can be purchased through Vape Club for £41.99 with free delivery!

Vaping full time since 2012, started on cigalikes for a while then curiosity got the better of me and I moved onto an vape pens, a month or two later I was seeing people walking around with these interesting shiny tubes and I thought 'I gotta get one of those'. Before I knew it a trip down to my local B&M got me my first VW mod, an Innokin SVD, paired with an iClear 30, and I was hooked. Soon after that I was jumping to VW mods both box and tube shaped, before I then made the jump to rebuilding and thus sub ohming, with my first RDA and mech mod. These days I've come back to convenience and mainly use pods, disposables and the VOOPOO Drag H40. Most importantly I am still loving vaping!

  1. Great Test. Really nice work.

It is very informative and even light up the words that is linked for both the novice and pros.

I just think you missed a great powerful Pod mod that I have bought since the bigger Mods disappeared from the market.

It is the Vaporesso XR Max. It have a 2800mha battery (built in) 80 watt max and still slim. The tank have 5 ml and coils from 0.15 to 1.2 ohm and also an RBA. I like the 0.2 ohm for impressive DTL.

Taste fantastic and the tanks is magnetic mounted so when you need a new taste it’s all about how many tanks you own. Or if you’re want to change to MTL being tired of to much big puffs (Coil and Tank is in one unit but coils can be changed when needed) .

It is compact but a impressive pocket Pod. Even for me that been vaped the double battery building my own coils (RTA RDA) and Sub-Ohms.

I was so impressed by the power and taste. And of course the fast change of tank. I was totally BLOWNED away. I think this LUXE XR MAX should made a great spot on this list.

I have tried other pods but not as powerful as this one.
