The Arctic Dolphin Elux kit is from a company that are renowned for their high-end stabwood mods. But with the Elux kit, they are giving us mere mortals a way into owning a little piece of their brilliance.
The Elux kit is aimed squarely at new vapers wanting to quit the ciggies or mouth to lung vapers wanting a pocket friendly bit of bling.
Let’s take a closer look.

Design and Build Quality
Elux Mod:
Picking up the mod and rolling it around my hand, I was initially drawn to the texture. The brushed aluminium has a slightly grippy feel, providing a bit of security when holding such a small mod. The side panels are also textured and come in many colour options.
The front panel, where the controls are located, is easy to navigate. The controls are simple and effective to manage with 5 clicks of the fire button turning the device on and off.
Beneath this is fire indicator light which pulses on and off when the device is fired.
Now we come to the power indicators and power shift button. The Elux mod will fire between 5 and 30w. Each of the LEDs is linked to 2 wattage settings.
- The first is 5w with one click of the power shift button
- 10w with a second click
- This is repeated all the way up to a max of 30w when all 3 indicator lights are at their brightest.
Hand Feel
I loved how the Arctic Dolphin Elux mod felt in my hand. The small proportions have been designed well. When held for finger firing, the sloping rear sits comfortably in the gap between thumb and forefinger.
When reversed, and held for thumb firing, the same sloped corner is cupped by my forefinger and allows 2nd joint on my thumb to fire. In this mode the protruding fire button gave me confidence the that I had a secure press each time I fired the Elux mod.
Elux Stock Coil Tank
The Elux stock coil tank is tiny, but well proportioned. The material has a quality feel and unlike other small tanks I’ve used the Elux has large cut outs on both the top can and the airflow control ring, providing a confident grip when compared a purely aesthetic knurling I’ve seen on competitors offerings.
A downside of the tank, for me, is the proprietary 510 drip tip fitting. The bayonet with the O-rings is located on the top cap. This means that if you lose your tip, you’ll be hard pressed to find a replacement.
How Does The Arctic Dolphin Elux Kit Perform
I’ve used the Arctic Dolphin Elux kit every day on my commute for the last month and I’ve been more than happy with it. The flavour is great and the battery life is amazing. I was running Element NS20 (Nic Salt) e-liquid (Neon Green Slushie) throughout my testing and the flavour from the 2.0Ohm coil was as fresh as I’ve ever tasted it.
For the price I would snap one of these beauties up in a heartbeat… a cute little mouth to lunger. I’d go for this to use with my nic-salt e-liquids that most of the pod systems I’ve tried are perfect for.
The firing time was bang on and I got a full flavoured hit from the 2.0Ohm coil each time I hit that button. Wicking wasn’t an issue, as the 4 proportionally large wicking holes made sure the cotton inside the coil was always wet.
Air Flow
The AFC uses mirrored cyclops holes on opposite sides of the tank base. The movement was firm and filled me with confidence that it wouldn’t move when taking it out of my pocket. My only gripe was noise. I know a little wind noise is to be expected, but seeing as I was so impressed with pretty much everything about this kit, the whistling was a let down.
Leaking
Being a bottom airflow tank, I am always worried about leaking. But these fears were misplaced. There hasn’t been a single drop of e-liquid out of the air flow of this tank, and it’s always full.
Fill Me Up
Filling the tank is simple and smooth. The machining of the top of the Elux tank provides a secure grip. After removing the top cap, the entire inner chamber is accessible. This allows the use of any type of dropper or bore of nozzle to be used to fill the tank…nice touch.
Pros
- Stunning design
- Comfortable in the hand
- Great machining on the top cap and air-flow
Cons
- Drip tip bayonet on the top cap
- Whistling from the air-flow
Final Verdict
I am so glad I was given the chance to test the Arctic Dolphin Elux kit. I honestly love it. From the form factor of the mod to the machining on the top cap and air-flow of the tank, the attention to detail is obvious.
Arctic Dolphin appeared to have wanted to show us that they can make gear for the “average Joe”. I’m sorry AD, there’s nothing average about this kit, well done!
I won’t be letting this one go far very soon.
