Introduction to Apollo “O’ So Good Donut” Eliquid Range
The Apollo O’ So Good Donut e-liquid range is part of the brands overall, and pretty huge, offering. A brand that have prided themselves on having a future facing vision. Even their “about us” section on their website reads like that blurb from a sci-fi novel.
They boast 20 e-liquid lines and over 400 different types of e-liquid. Keen to taste some Californian flavour to see if it would improve my surfing (I can’t surf), I quickly tore through the packaging to be greeted with 2 massive bottles.
Always keen to give any new vape produce a go I quickly popped the caps and had a good sniff. I have to admit that the smell was really quite muted from both liquids. Neither of them gave off a smell that had me scrambling for my trusty review setup.
The bottles came in a 120ml offering and as they came straight from the US they had been steeped with 6mg of nicotine.
However, in the UK this line will come in as 120ml, 0 nicotine. So make sure you check how many 10ml nic-shots you need to add. As an example you will need to add 2 x 10ml (18mg/ml) nic shots to bring it up to 3mg nicotine. Find out more here with our short fill e-liquid guide.
I received this sample free of charge for the purpose of this review and as always, my views are my own.
Please remember that tastes are subjective, and your experience may be different to mine.
For this review I used my SX-Mini G Class and the 24mm Dead Rabbit RDA with Fused Clapton coils coming in at 0.12Ohms, cleaned and re-wicked between each flavour.
Apollo O’ So Good | Glazed Donut
Apollo Says:
A classic doughnut layered with sweet sugary glaze that you “donut want to miss out on”
I say:
A tentative squeeze of the bottle left me still wondering what the flavour would be like. A muted baked sweetness was all I seemed to be able to work out.
I absolutely soaked my cotton to give this guy the best possible chance to win me over. The first hit was OK, slightly “dry” in texture but not bad. For my notes I decided to vape this a little longer than usual and gave it a good hour. After about half that the flavour started to settle in. Sweet and doughy and that really is all there is to it.
I used this liquid for 3 days straight and it began to grow on me. I wouldn’t say I particularly liked it, but there was a sense of comfort in the flavour like you get from fresh warm donuts at fairgrounds or Christmas markets.
The clouds are good and dense and they had no problem fogging out my kitchen very quickly. There’s not much of a scent left by the vapor, it’s all very subtle.
I think the problem here is that there was no stand out flavour. Add a splash of cinnamon or chocolate and I think we could have got on very well indeed. But sadly, it’s a no from me.
Apollo O’ So Good |Ice Cream Donut
Apollo Says:
The warm glazed donut you know and love, topped with strawberry ice cream
I say:
OK, so there’s a little bit more to go on here. The strawberry comes through straight away on first sniff. Not fresh and ripe but more like a freshly opened box of Nesquick. The sugary-ness is definitely there.
Like the review above I decided to extend my note taking period, but I needn’t have bothered. The “thing” that was missing before had been found. A flavour you can pinpoint.
The strawberry is the saving grace in this liquid and I found it true to form for strawberry ice-cream. But for me it was more supermarket own brand than independent gelato stand for flavour profile.
The clouds from the Max VG mix were thick and soon my kitchen looked like a health club sauna!
The addition of strawberry was welcome in this flavour profile. When I review e-liquids I ask myself whether I would buy it with my own cash and I can honestly say no. The flavour is just a little unrefined for me.
Final Verdict
Both of the Apollo O’ So Good Donut e-liquid bottles came without a VG/PG ratio listed on the label. But with a bit of internet digging I found them all to be listed as Max VG. But in the technical data they were listed as 80VG/20PG, so I’m sticking with that.
All of the fears I had about the glazing flavour being pure sugar and killing whatever coil they came in contact with were quickly kicked to touch. There was absolutely no build up of crud on my coils in the 2 weeks that I tested these, which is a bonus for such sweet flavours.
Overall the clouds were really good and probably the best part of the review for me. If I’m going to spend £25 on 120ml of e-liquid, I want to know I’m going to enjoy it to the very last drop. I want to be frantically searching the internet to see who has the best deals on it before I run out. I didn’t find that here, sadly.
I feel like I’m being harsh but the best phrase I can use to describe the O’so Good range is: OK.
If you find any of these flavours sound like they are for you and you pick them up I would love to hear how your experience differs from mine.
