The Apollo DSRT E-liquid range are as the name suggests a range of liquids inspired by desserts.
Apollo E-Cigarettes are a brand which have been on the vaping scene for quite a while going back to the cig-a-like style e cig kit, right up to the high VG and Nicotine Salt e-liquid ranges they are producing today.
What Can We Expect From The DSRT Vape Juice Range by Apollo?
The bottles I received are not for the EU market as they are 60ml bottles with 6mg nicotine strength.
For the EU markets in order to comply with the TPD regulations there are 10ml bottles including nicotine or 50ml nicotine free short fill bottles available. To purchase these make sure to go to the “EU / UK Customers” area of their website.
As the name suggests these are of course dessert based juices. I received the following flavours:
- Sugar Cookie Sandwich
- Cinnamon Roll
- Strawberry Cream Cannoli
The other flavours in the range are:
- Mint Chip Milkshake
- Raspberry Cheesecake
PG/VG & Nicotine Content
These e-liquids are high VG e-liquids however the actual proportions are not stated on the bottles or the Apollo Website. They do state they have 50/50 and 80VG/PG ratios available so I’m presuming these are the latter.
For an explanation of VG and PG in E-liquids read here.
These e-liquids are more suitable for sub ohm higher power devices.
To review these I used my trusty Kaees Aladdin RDA and dry burn/fresh wick for each liquid.
Sugar Cookie Sandwich
This does not appear on the Apollo website in the bottle I have. Mine is simply called “Sugar Cookie Sandwich”.
However they do have a liquid called “Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Sugar Cookie Sandwich” which I think is the same liquid but not 100% sure. There is no flavour description on the bottle either.
Apollo say…
I say….
On first sniff this is a real ice cream vanilla smell. I actually really like this – and I am quite fussy with vanilla.
When you vape this that ice cream taste is still there but there is a back note of musty-ness. Like old newspapers which have got damp in an old shed.
This is by no means the worst Vanilla taste I have ever had but it isn’t up there with the best either. It seems Vanilla is one of the hardest flavours to transfer to e-liquid as the variations I have tasted are so different.
Think of an old tin of custard powder – the smell of that is quite similar to the taste of this e-liquid but without the sweetness. There is a stale tinge to it.
This one really isn’t for me at all but vanilla lovers may like this.
Cinnamon Roll
Apollo say…
“Just like the wonderful aroma at every local mall’s food court, Cinnamon Roll is a timeless flavor packed with sweet gooey goodness and a gentle kiss of non overwhelming cinnamon perfect for all pastry lovers!”
I say….
Uh oh – I really hate cinnamon E-liquid. Cinnamon and Coffee e-liquid (oh and Pumpkin Cheesecake) are my vaping nemesis.
I am good to you lot aren’t I. Right man up Shell time to get stuck in.
Hmm so far pleasant surprise, the smell is more of a gingerbread smell – so this might be better than I am expecting.
This tastes to me like a gingerbread man which has been burnt – full on arson attack really. Also a back taste of coffee too.
Oh and yeah there is cinnamon. So pretty accurate description wise.
Not as awful as I was expecting really but still not something I would buy. It is of huge credit though that I was vaping away on a Cinnamon E-liquid without heaving once!
Strawberry Cream Cannoli
Apollo say…
“A delightful, deep fried sweet and creamy pastry glazed with delicious strawberries straight from the old country. “
I say….
I have to admit I had no idea what a Cannoli was.
After prowling around the internet I can now see it is a kind of deep fried pastry dessert with a filling.
I am not a fan of e-liquids with a fried or pastry component. I tend to like my sweet things to be sweet and my savoury things to be savoury. I still have nightmares about an e-liquid which was Pumpkin Cheesecake – two items I cannot even imagine putting together.
Even donut e-liquids do not do it for me despite me loving donuts in real life. I just don’t like how the fatty fried smell seems to dominate when you have it in e-liquid form.
So there is again that fatty fried smell to this liquid which puts me right off.
However this isn’t as bad when vaping and there is a smooth but pale strawberry cream flavour in the background. Almost like a cheap strawberry ice cream where they have been stingy with the flavour.
As I have never tasted a Cannoli I cannot compare how accurate this flavour is but it does deliver a strawberry cream with a fried undertone – if that helps?
Final Verdict
These liquids are pretty close to their descriptions.
I tend to hide from “Dessert” e-liquids especially when they have a fried or savoury profile involved.
The Cinnamon is the only Cinnamon e-liquid I have ever been able to vape for 10 minutes continuously – but this is because it has more of a Gingerbread flavour than strong Cinnamon.
Overall not a bad range at all – the vapour output is good too. But would be nice to see the PG/VG ratio actually on the bottles or website to judge this more accurately.
