Design & Build Quality

On first impressions I can tell that ANYX have really gone all out with the design here, crafting a device that feels extremely robust and incredibly well made.

anyx iron vape in hand

The Iron is crafted using Zinc, PC and ABS materials and four different attractive colours are available, with Urban Grey, Cyber Blue, Edge Green and Lunar Purple.

ANYX kindly sent all four of these over for review and they do boast exceptional finishes, making for a very attractive looking device.

anyx iron back view

It has some heft to it as well, with measurements of 134.5mm x 53.5mm x 19mm and weighing in at 101.2g. This can definitely stand up to heavy day to day use! I’ve dropped the Urban Grey version a fair few times over the past couple of weeks that I have used it and there’s hardly a scratch to be seen!

On the front of the device is a large line above the ANYX logo and this is the LED battery indicator.

This allows you to check battery life at a glance and lights up whenever you take a puff or place the device on charge.

When it is time to charge the ANYX Iron, you’ll find the USB-C charging port located at the base of the device.

Located on the rear of the ANYX Iron is the airflow adjustment slider. This boasts very smooth travel and you can fine tune the airflow here. I did feel that the toggle was a little bit on the rough side, digging into my thumb at times when I used it.

Pods connect magnetically to the device and these have minimal wobble when installed.

You can see exactly how much e-liquid you have in the pod without needing to remove it and ANYX Iron pods have a side filling system.

This is a product that boasts a really classy design, and I feel that it is one of the best looking devices I’ve used this year!

Quick Start Guide

Firstly, you’ll need to remove the pod from the device and take off the safety sticker at the base of the pod.

After that, you’ll need to fill your ANYX Iron pod. Thanks to the design of the side filling, you don’t even need to remove the pod in order to fill it.

Simply lift up the silicon cover from the base to expose the filling port and fill away!

side fill anyx iron pod

If you are filling a brand new pod for the first time, let the e-liquid sit in the pod for around five minutes to allow the cotton in the coil to absorb the liquid properly.

This will prolong the lifespan of the pods and help guard against nasty dry hits.

To vape on the ANYX Iron, just take a draw on the pod. An auto-draw system is used so there’s no need to push any buttons or anything here.

Safety Protections

Six different safety protections are built in, with over-voltage, over-current, overtime, short circuit, low battery and child-lock.

anyx iron protections

The child lock is activated by tapping the USB-C charging port five times within two seconds and the LED light will flash Red to indicate that it is locked.

anyx iron branding

It will flash Green when unlocking it. I have accidentally locked this on a couple of occasions by mistake when fidgeting around with the device, it’s fairly easily done!

Battery level is displayed via the intuitive LED light on the front of the device. When it lights up Green, you’ve got 60-100% battery life remaining, when it is Blue there is 30-60% left and Red means 0-30%.

Charging

You do get a USB-C charging cable included within the box, which plugs into the base of the device in order to charge it.

charge port

I didn’t have the specs of the charging current to hand, but from flat to full you are looking at a charging time of just over an hour depending on the power output source.

How Does The ANYX Iron Perform?

ANYX aim to cater for both mouth to lung and restricted direct lung vapers with the choice of ANYX Iron pods on offer. You can pick from resistances of 0.4ohm, 0.6ohm, 0.8ohm and 1.2ohm with a 0.6ohm pod included with the device.

anyx iron pod and battery

Generously, ANYX sent all four of these resistances over for me to try out, so I set an ANYX Iron up with one of each to give them a go!

anyx iron pods

0.4ohm

I would recommend this pod if you are a restricted direct lung vaper, you can get a mouth to lung vape from it if you close the airflow down but it is a bit too warm and intense for it.

I primarily used this pod with the airflow set to fully open, delivering a warm vape with some impressive vapour production I must say. The clouds that this kicked out were certainly denser than I’ve got from a lot of other pod systems!

I did notice that I had to take a pretty deep and forceful draw with this to get it to fire and I had to continue to inhale pretty deeply otherwise it would seem to cut in and out.

Flavour wise, this is excellent. I vaped a lot of Nixer x Jack Rabbit Custard Doughnut in this. It is one of my favourite e-liquids and a flavour profile that I know well and it really shone here.

The creamy notes from the custard were elevated, tasting really bold and rich. I got more of the doughnut flavouring than I did when vaping the same e-liquid in some other pod systems. This pod really did seem to bring out the best in dessert e-liquids.

0.6ohm

This is the pod that comes included with the ANYX Iron, and I think that it is a good middle ground as it offers the option of mouth to lung or restricted direct lung vaping.

0.6Ohm pod

My personal preference was to use this pod for restricted direct lung vaping, with the airflow closed down just a touch. But I was also able to get a perfectly good mouth to lung vape from it. A good option if you like a warmer mouth to lung vape!

Much like the 0.4ohm pod, vapour production is pretty impressive here. It actually competes with the 0.4ohm pod in terms of how much vapour it can kick out, I didn’t notice much difference.

And the vape is smooth, oh so very silky smooth! I didn’t have any issues with having to take a really deep draw on this or the vape cutting in and out – it just delivered a consistent vape each and every time.

Again, as per the 0.4ohm pod, the flavour is excellent too. This is right up there with the best pods that I have tried, delivering outstanding flavour with both fruit and dessert e-liquids.

I have got to say that the 0.6ohm pod was my personal pick of the bunch!

0.8ohm

You can still get a restricted lung hit from this pod, though I would say it is more for the mouth to lung vaper.

I felt the vape was a little weak when vaping with the airflow open above half and it was best suited to closing the airflow down. It definitely wasn’t as intense flavour wise as the 0.6ohm and 0.8ohm pods were!

If you prefer a slightly airier mouth to lung vape then this will be the pod for you.

1.2ohm

Restricted lung vapers look away, this pod is for the mouth to lung vapers out there, with it being best suited to having the airflow closed down for a tighter draw. The sweet spot for airflow here is having the airflow control half open at most, a quarter open for the best experience.

If you are vaping a pod with this resistance, you certainly aren’t going to be looking to blow huge clouds, with the vapour production being much more subtle than the other pods in the range.

Flavour is still pretty decent here, but it’s just a little bit on the weak side for my tastes. I do primarily vape restricted direct lung and prefer a bit more of a powerful vape!

Overall, the lifespan of the pods is excellent. I’m into my second week using these and the vape from them seems just as good as it was on day one, with no noticeable degradation in flavour!

Battery Life

There’s a built in 1000mAh battery with the ANYX Iron and during testing this would easily last me a full day, even when using the 0.4ohm pod. With the 0.8ohm and 1.2ohm pods, this would last well into a second days use.

pink anyx iron vape

Charging isn’t the quickest, with a charge time of over an hour from flat to full, which I didn’t find too much of an issue as I had spare devices to hand. Something you might want to consider if you are looking at picking one of these up and can’t be without a vape for an hour or so!

Pros

  • Exceptional build quality
  • Great looking device
  • Provides excellent flavour
  • Can easily check e-liquid level in the pod
  • Great lifespan from the pods
  • Great for mouth to lung and restricted direct lung vapers

Cons

  • No adjustable wattage
  • Airflow adjustment slider is a bit sharp
  • Device can be accidentally locked easily

Final Verdict

This has got to be one of the most well-made pod systems I’ve had in my hands, it’s absolutely rock solid! And it looks great too, boasting an attractive, futuristic design.

Now, looks are nothing without performance to back it up and I’m happy to say that the ANYX Iron performs really well indeed.

The flavour I get from the pods is absolutely fantastic, this really is a cut above the ANYX Pro that I reviewed back at the start of the year. It feels like ANYX have put a lot into the design, ensuring that flavour delivery is up there with some of the best pod systems that I have tried. And these pods have a long lifespan too!

Battery life is enough to keep you vaping for at least a full day, even longer if you are using one of the higher resistance pods, such as the 0.8ohm or 1.2ohm pods.

A superb choice if you are looking for a pod system that boasts exceptional build quality, stylish looks and can handle day to day wear and tear with ease then the ANYX Iron is going to be a great option for you.

At the time of writing, I can’t see this for sale in the UK, but I really do hope it is coming to our shores along with 2ml TPD compliant pods!

Many thanks to ANYX for sending the ANYX Iron in for review!

Vaping full time since 2012, started on cigalikes for a while then curiosity got the better of me and I moved onto an vape pens, a month or two later I was seeing people walking around with these interesting shiny tubes and I thought 'I gotta get one of those'. Before I knew it a trip down to my local B&M got me my first VW mod, an Innokin SVD, paired with an iClear 30, and I was hooked. Soon after that I was jumping to VW mods both box and tube shaped, before I then made the jump to rebuilding and thus sub ohming, with my first RDA and mech mod. These days I've come back to convenience and mainly use pods, disposables and the VOOPOO Drag H40. Most importantly I am still loving vaping!
