The Advken Manta Sub Ohm Tank is a follow on from the well put together RTA released last year. The stock coil version of the Manta also gives us a chance for some mesh coil action.
This is my first time looking at an Advken product, but mesh coils are something I’ve become a fan of in the past few months.
Will this version of the Manta match some of the best sub ohm tanks in terms of flavour and cloud production? You’ll have to read on to find out.

Design and Build Quality
Once again, I can feel happy to say that the Advken Manta is a very well put together stock coil tank.
Tank Options
The box includes 2 plastic tanks. A honeycomb 2ml and a glittery larger capacity offering 4.5ml.
Drip Tip
From the top we see that the drip tip matches the 2ml tank with its honeycomb inserts.
The connection is an 810 but it has quite a small bore to match up with the diameter of the chimney. So, whilst your other 810 tips will fit, I found no real benefit to the draw. The stock drip tip is held very securely in place thanks to a beefy O-ring in the neck of the chimney.
Top Fill
The aesthetically pleasing knurling on the top fill cap is a nod to the Manta RTA and looks really good.
To find the fill port look for the manta logo and push to slide the cap open, revealing a relatively small fill hole in comparison to other top fill tanks. But it’s more than big enough to accommodate the tip on a 100ml bottle of e-liquid.
Tank Options
In 2ml mode the tank matches perfectly with the drip tip. But swap it out for the larger capacity bubble glass and suddenly we’re in mis-match city. It would have been nice to have an extra tip to match the larger tank for me. Being a resin/pyrex the tanks feel very robust and appear like they could survive a topple over.
Air Flow
The Manta is a bottom air flow tank. Which as we all know comes with its own set of issues regarding leaking. Sadly, the Manta is no different. If left standing overnight the was a definite light coating of e-liquid down my mod.
Secondly this is one noisy tank. If you like your air flow fully open, then you’re going to feel like you’re playing the kazoo. The Manta is so noisy the I was made to leave the room while Mrs Red Beard was enjoying something awful on TV.
Thankfully if you close down the AFC to halfway you lose all of that uncomfortable noise and open yourself up to a definite flavour improvement to boot.
Coils
My review sample came with 2 mesh type coils. A 0.16Ohm coil pre-installed and a 0.2Ohm spare coil. Both coils were pretty similar in terms of output, but I think the 0.16Ohm coil edged it a little on flavour for me. However, that could be down to the fact that I had spent longer breaking it in.
Once again, I can feel happy to say that the Advken Manta is a very well put together stock coil tank.
How Does The Advken Manta Sub Ohm Tank Perform?
Breaking it in
It took me a while to find the right airflow settings with the Manta but when I had there was no stopping me using this little stunner.
Choosing the right mod to pair it with can be a bit of a minefield too. I started off using my trusty SX Mini G Class but found that the ramp up was a bit too much for the mesh coils and there was an unfortunate burnt taste from the coils.
Feeling a need to step down the power I partnered the Advken Manta Sub Ohm tank up with a pen style mod, the OBS Draco and this is where it stayed for the remainder of my testing. For me the delivery of power from this locked 80W device was perfect for hours of enjoyment from the Manta sub ohm tank.
Coil Life
Flavour was good for a stock coil tank. A trend I’m finding is common with the new generation of mesh coils I’m testing. The coils for the Manta don’t disappoint. I got a week and a half from the pre-installed 0.16Ohm coil and only swapped it out for the 0.2Ohm coil as I needed to get it tested for this review.
I used the Manta daily for at least 3 hours on an evening and would easily have expected to get 2-2.5 weeks from each of the coils.
Flavour to Savour
I used fruit and bakery e-liquids in this tank but made sure that I didn’t use anything overly sweet so that I didn’t gunk up the coils.
I think this is something we need to be aware of when using stock coil tanks, overly sweetened e-liquids can seriously reduce the life of the coils. The bakery liquid I used was Beard Vape Co Number 32 and whilst I obviously enjoyed the taste I found the vape to be a little cool.
As I said earlier I needed to balance power with coil life and the Manta didn’t give me what I was looking for with this e-liquid.
However, when I went to fruits I chose to use a Grape Slush from Love Slush. This was an eye-opener. The flavour was rounded and the vapour production quickly made me crack open a window.
Given the right liquid and the right power settings this little tank will chuck clouds (bro) with the best of them.
Pros
- Beautiful looks
- Long lasting coils
- Good flavour
Cons
- A little leaky if left for a long time
- Additional glass Doesn’t match drip tip
- Noisy airflow when wide open
Final Review Verdict
I really enjoyed using the Advken Manta Sub Ohm Tank and I think I’m going to enjoy using it out and about for a long time.
It’s great for in the pub and whilst the cloud is good it isn’t as anti-social as others I’ve used. In standard mode it looks gorgeous and the coils just keep giving flavour day after day!
