Am I Going Ape Over 12 Monkey’s E-Liquids?
Canadian based 12 Monkeys are one of the most established premium e-liquid producers in the world and have won numerous awards including Best Fruit and Best New Brand in our own Ecigclick Vape Awards – Voted by Vapers.
Given the time and care that goes into this e-liquid range stocks can and do run low as no batch is released until it has properly steeped for two weeks.
12 Monkeys say this guarantees ‘a more consistent flavour’ adding they believe in ‘quality over quantity’.
The company has two ranges or lines – The Intelligence Line [new flavor coming soon] which I shall be reviewing and the Triumph Line.
Each of the juices has a different VG and PG ratio which they say brings out the best in the ingredients and the e-liquids are available in 0 – 3 – 6 – 12mg nicotine strengths and are fully TPD compliant – I received x3 10ml bottles inside an attractive tub.
OK so that’s the company now most importantly how do they vape and taste?
I received 5 x 30ml tubs for the purpose of this review and as always my thoughts and opinions are my own.
For the test I used my Doge III RDA and the Hellvape Hellbirth RTA freshly wicked every time and varying wattage between 35w and 75watts.
Harambae – 80% VG
12 Monkeys says:
Harambae features a tangy citrus unison of grapefruit highlights fused with lemon, lime, blood orange and refreshing guava undertones. The zesty and sharp exhale of this citrus synergy will be the savior to your taste buds when everything else feels dull!
I say:
I literally had to fight my way to the front of the queue at the recent Vaper Expo to get a taste of this new flavour and I wasn’t disappointed – this is stunning stuff.
If you like your fruit vapes – and not just tropical ones – then is is going to be right on your flavour profile.
It’s a sweet fruity inhale with juicy blood orange mingling with guava before the exhale delivers a not too tangy grapefruit with perfectly blended citrus twist of lemon and lime.
To be honest I get a different flavour combination each time I vape on this – on the Drop RDA [review soon] I’m getting stronger citrus notes whilst in the Zeus RTA it’s a sweeter hit – either way it’s bloody lovely and I’m down to 10mls from the 60mls I bought – wow!
Tropika – 90% VG
12 Monkey’s say:
Inspired by their primal cousins to the south, Twelve Monkeys has crafted a perfect balance of exotic tropical fruits combined carefully to result in one of the most palate pleasing juice blends known to man.
This pleasing, but not overpowering concoction of tropical fruits is the perfect complement for any daydreaming, beach vacationing aficionado. Sit back and give your taste buds an exotic vacation while they attempt to identify what the fruits are!
I say:
Given this was voted Best Fruit in our 2016 awards I was expecting big things and I wasn’t let down!
First up this is most definitely the highest VG I’ve ever tasted [80 was the highest until this one] and I’m pretty sure that’s the reason as to why this e-liquid is smooth almost silky on both the inhale and exhale.
As to the taste this is one of those juices that shifts flavor every time you vape it but with the same overall taste if that makes any sense at all!
It’s certainly packed full of tropical fruits that are not too sweet nor too sharp – indeed the more I think about it Tropika is as close to the all-day vape I’ve been looking for that I may ever get!
Think a carton of Um Bongo – but with the flavours even more pronounced and you’ll get the idea – lovely e-liquid.
Congo Cream – 70% VG
12 Monkey’s says:
This tantalizing recipe incorporates two distinctly different creamy vanillas to elevate the flavour of handpicked, fresh strawberries. Experience the taste of this sophisticated cream that has evolved to become a unique treasure.
I say:
To be honest the thought of yet another strawberry and cream e-liquid didn’t get me excited at all and I left this one until the others had run out!
Wow – why did I wait!
They mention the word ‘sophisticated’ and that’s exactly what this is – I’d add decadent to that description.
Slightly sharp but ultimately sweet strawberries burst on your tongue before velvety rich and dense cream creates a kind of custardy ice creamy gloopy yumminess that really does make your taste buds zing – divine!
Kanzi – 80% VG
12 Monkey’s say:
A Primate with a sweet tooth; Kanzi has a taste for only the best fruity flavours. This fusion of strawberries, watermelon and a hint of kiwi is sure to please the most discerning fruit connoisseur. Kanzi is a mouthwatering fruit concoction that is sure to salivate any palate. Perfect accompaniment to Kanzi while winning a game of Pac-Man.
I Say:
Now this e-liquid comes within a whisker of being too sweet – but is saved by the slight and I mean slight tartness of the kiwi.
It’s certainly a delicious e-liquid that sweet and fruit lovers will enjoy but keep it too long and you’ll find it will sweeten up even more as it steeps.
That’s not a bad thing as it added another dimension to the vape but over the close to 3 weeks I’ve had these juices this one has definitely sweetened up!
Apart from the kiwi I wasn’t really able to differentiate between the other two fruits – my palate picking up only a generic candy fruit taste – which is still bloody tasty!
Not an ADV for me – but definitely one to stop those sweet cravings.
O-RangZ – 80% VG
12 Monkey’s say:
Tired of foraging for food during the drowsy morning dew, Twelve Monkeys developed the perfect breakfast to ease the morning blues. A careful marriage of lemony fruits accented by wheaty cereal and finished with creamy milk. The perfect vape to start off your day AND vape all day. O-RangZ brings back memories of a beloved cereal from childhood.
*Twelve Monkeys Vapor Co. still recommends a healthy, nutritional breakfast. Not to be used as a meal replacement.
I say:
Adding citrus to milk can tend to make things curdle a little – not quite yogurt and not that nice.
However.
I’ve never actually tried a milk ‘n cereal flavored e-liquid before but this one is absolutely delicious.
To me it’s more of a yogurt flavor with a slight sharpness of citrus – lemon or orange not quite sure lol – with underlying sweeter fruits on the inhale.
The exhale brings in a slight biscuit/cereal note that does create the illusion of yogurt and granola.
I liked this one but I’m not sure why if that makes any sense at all – it’s certainly ‘different’ and I would guess an acquired taste.
Mangabeys – 80% VG
12 Monkey’s say:
Tropika’s Caribbean cousin has arrived! Mangabeys is related in concept yet distinctive in flavour. Mangabeys will transport you to the sunny carefree shores of the Caribbean islands. This bright and fresh blend of Pineapple, Guava and Mango is accented by a myriad of Caribbean fruits and is the perfect companion for a day basking in the warm tropical sun. Let Mangabeys’ Caribbean specific fruits give you a taste of the island lifestyle!
I say:
I think I’ve just found a contender to become my ADV [all day vape] because this is absolutely delicious and then some.
I absolutely adore mangoes and was like the proverbial pig in sh*t on a recent visit to Guadeloupe where I ate bowl after bowl of mango and mixed fruit salads!
I was indeed whisked away to that island as soon as I opened the bottle – the aroma alone hooked me and pulled me in.
The fusion of these three fruits is blending perfection as each one vies for attention but ultimately come together in the most delicious vape I’ve tried for years.
It’s just sweet enough with a lovely sharp back note and more than enough clouds to blot out even the hottest Caribbean sun!
Final Verdict
Given I’m hard to please when it comes to e-liquids I’m a little bit gobsmacked to find a range that I not only enjoyed but absolutely love!
Both fruit lovers and those with a sweet tooth will find something here to tickle even the most discerning of taste buds.
Wonderful blending and the very clever use of different VG and PG mixes really does get those flavour popping and gives incredibly dense sweet smelling clouds for days!
I’m not monkeying around when I say I really have gone ape over these juices – wonderful stuff and I’m really looking forward to trying the new flavour Harambe when it’s released – it sounds just as delicious.
Would I buy the Twelve Monkeys E Liquid range again? I think the answer is pretty obvious.
